Things to see and do in Bonfield

 
 

Bonfield and surrounding areas are filled with numerous rivers, lakes and trails to walk and enjoy. For the photographer it presents a multitude of canvases in all seasons for everyone from Landscapes, Wildlife, and whatever catches ones eye. Many of the the things to see are only a short drive away. In North Bay visit Duchesnay Falls Trails and walk the short trail through the woods. North Bay also has trails like Laurier Park Conservation Area were many birders and photographers visit. To the you’ll find Talon Lake Chute, Eau Claire Gorge Conservation Area which is worth exploring. Just a short drive from down Hwy 17 is Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park with Ecology centre and miles of walking trails. Also close by is Kiosk which is one of the Northern Boundary entrances to Algonquin Park. As you continue further East about 30 minute drive is Mattawa a town in northeastern Ontario, Canada, at the confluence of the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers in Nipissing District. Mattawa means “Meeting of the Waters” in Ojibwa. In 1615 Etienne Brulé and Samuel de Champlain were the first Europeans to pass through this area. Every summer Mattawa hosts Voyageur Days with concerts and activities scheduled over 3 days.
